Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic. Sometimes it looks like a racing mind at 2 a.m., or a knot in your stomach before you even know why. If fear has been loud in your life lately, here are some anchors.

2 Timothy 1:7 puts it plainly: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Fear is real, but it isn’t the spirit God handed you. Power, love, and a sound mind are.

Philippians 4:6-7 gives a practical path through anxiety, not just a promise to feel better: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Notice thanksgiving is part of the instruction gratitude tends to loosen fear’s grip even when circumstances haven’t changed yet.

And when fear feels bigger than your ability to fight it, Psalm 34:4 offers a simple testimony: “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Not most. All.

When anxiety rises:
• Bring the specific fear to God by name — vague worry left in your head grows; named worry brought to prayer shrinks.
• Practice thanksgiving even in the anxious moment, not just after it passes.
• Remember fear and faith rarely occupy the same sentence for long — one will crowd out the other.

You don’t have to wrestle fear alone in the dark. Bring it into the light, and into prayer in Jesus’ name.
