Every year from I have been a teenager as Mother’s Day draws close, I get so excited to plan out what I will do for my mom. Each year the plans and intentions seem to be more and more precarious as my hope for the day somehow gets thwarted. This year is no different because we are all under quarantine or some level of ‘stay home order’.Yes, COVID-19 has placed constraints on most of us and our celebration plans.
I haven’t physically been with my mom for roughly two months now (due to the nature of her job). This is a little challenging and blatantly hard which makes me sometimes feel sad. However, when I truly put everything into perspective and considering that God’s continued grace and blessings are still being extended to both of us we are highly favored. I know it sounds cliche, but I am truly blessed.

For many persons, Mother’s Day is challenging. There are many reasons that bring on these challenges like losing your mom or childlessness, or socio-geographic strains which makes it hard to visit. Whatever it may be these persons may feel broken-hearted. But I want to remind us that God cares for the broken-hearted. God promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us, and that includes everyone in the world. God is with us in whatever state of mind and at all stages/processes of our lives.
As a young, single, Child of God, I know I am no longer bound (yes, no longer because I used to be) by the social standards ‘outlined and pushed out’ through social media, the opinions of others like our family, friends, and peers, or by the criteria set by this world because my Lord Jesus has invited me and you to step into a new grace-filled reality where we live under the values of God’s Kingdom.
Under these kingdom values, you have the peace, joy, and love of God. The Lord has made preparations for all under His grace provisioned values. These are beautifully listed in the Beatitudes noted in St. Matthew 5:1-12.
I am not yet a mom, but from what I have social gathered, being a mom is a demanding role and task. Which is why I want to salute all mothers. You do the impossible for everyone and wears the belt of a champ like a true hero, like which you are. I encourage you to start, connect, and keep a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. He controls all things and being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus(Philippians 1:6).

Happy Quarantined Mother’s Day to you or yours! Mom, you are blessed in the Earth and a Proverbs 31 woman!
